The Challenge
Why Web3 video is a minefield
Crypto and Web3 have the biggest trust deficit of any industry. Years of rug pulls, vaporware, and hype-over-substance mean your audience assumes you're a scam until proven otherwise. Video is the fastest way to close that gap, or widen it.
- The trust deficit is massive. Your audience has been burned before. They've watched projects implode, founders disappear, and communities get exploited. Every piece of content you produce is being evaluated through a lens of suspicion. Your video needs to project legitimacy, not hype.
- The space is drowning in low-effort content. AI-generated thumbnails, hype reels with no substance, "number go up" aesthetics. The bar for Web3 video content is so low that most projects look indistinguishable from scams, even when they're legitimate. Standing out means looking nothing like the rest of the space.
- Protocols are almost impossible to explain. Try explaining a cross-chain liquidity aggregator to someone who doesn't know what a blockchain is. Now try doing it in 60 seconds with visuals. The abstraction layer is enormous, and most teams default to jargon-filled content that only speaks to insiders.
- Community is the product. In Web3, your community IS your competitive moat. Video content that builds community is different from video content that sells a product. It needs to create belonging, identity, and shared narrative. That's a fundamentally different creative challenge.
- Launch windows are chaotic. Token launches, protocol upgrades, governance votes, ecosystem announcements. The cadence is fast, the stakes are high, and the audience expects instant, high-quality content. Most video production timelines don't fit Web3's speed.
- Platform rules are hostile. Crypto advertising restrictions on Meta, Google, and other platforms mean you can't just run paid ads like other industries. Organic content quality and community-driven distribution become critical. Your video needs to be good enough that people actually share it.
